My Role: Development of a book detailing how to survive colege, and it's outside materials
Used Tools: Clip Studio Paint and InDesign
Description:For this project, I was tasked with conceptualizing, designing, and creating a product—primarily a book—along with supplementary items to enhance its message. The theme was a college survival kit, and I decided to create a tarot-based kit. The kit included the Major Arcana (the 21 main tarot cards) and a book explaining the meanings of these cards. Each card's meaning was adapted to align with college life, while still retaining a connection to the original tarot interpretations. The design process went through several stages and prototypes. Initially, I experimented with a leather-bound book, which even reached the prototype stage. However, I ultimately decided it didn’t complement the overall style of the illustrations and themes. The final design featured an eye motif and purple color scheme, which originated from the back of the cards and was expanded to the card pack and book. The cards themselves had a more unique and original design, drawing less inspiration from traditional tarot. These illustrations were also incorporated into the book, along with additional drawings to add more depth and content. My favorite part of this project was the prototyping phase—sewing the book, crafting the card boxes, and assembling the elements. Seeing the prototypes come to life, even the leather-bound version that didn’t make it to the final design, was incredibly rewarding. Due to the size of the book, I’ve included a PDF with all the pages instead of uploading individual JPGs.
