Synopsis:The story follows Pablo, a curious cat, on his extraordinary adventure through various dimensions. Accompanying the narrative is a scientist from the lab Pablo escaped from, documenting his journey. The tale begins in the lab, where Pablo ventures into a restricted section and consumes an experimental substance. This grants him a third eye and the ability to switch dimensions whenever he sneezes. His first leap takes him to Rulpea, a world where technology has been outlawed. There, Pablo finds himself in a house brimming with forbidden tech, as police chariots begin to surround the premises. Another sneeze propels him into the next dimension. The final destination is Frogtopia, a world transformed by climate change, which led to the extinction of humanity and the rise of hyper-intelligent frogs. Pablo explores a bustling frog city before encountering a hallucinogenic mushroom. The story concludes with a surreal and trippy experience, leaving the ending open to interpretation.
Description:This project was created in collaboration with oCubo, an installations company working at Alfândega do Porto. It was my first time contributing to a project of this scale, designing visuals for an intricate projection that encompassed an entire room. The experience was both challenging and unique. My team faced several setbacks, including time mismanagement by some members. Originally, the project was supposed to include an additional world featuring a giant city and robot, but we couldn’t complete it. Due to these challenges, I ended up taking on more responsibilities than initially planned. Alongside designing and creating the Lab scenario and its variations, my primary role was to conceptualize and design the Rulpea dimension. Rulpea is inspired by dystopian tales like Fahrenheit 451 and 1984. It depicts a world without technology, with the central scene focusing on a house harboring forbidden tech as police close in around it. The visual style blends 2D and 3D elements: buildings and interiors are rendered in 3D, while the outside environment is in 2D. This contrast highlights the division between the house and the world outside. I also designed the transitions between dimensions, including the iconic opening eye and the falling cat. Despite the stress, I truly enjoyed working on this project. My favorite moment was experiencing the immersive effect of Rulpea, particularly the sequence where the horses begin running around us—it brought the world to life in an exhilarating way. There are some extra small videos that I decided not to put on this page, due to its quantity and small duration, however, they can still be found in my youtube channel, on the shorts sections.
