Used Tools: Clip Studio Paint and InDesign

Description:This project was created as an exploration of how we would visually represent a traditional recipe from our home country, in my case, Portugal. I chose "bolinho de bacalhau" (codfish fritters) because of their deep connection to my grandmother and the fond memories associated with them. The creative process went through several stages, beginning with sketches and multiple concepts. In the end, I selected a design style and experimented with various versions—some using traditional colors, others with bright and bold palettes, and a few with more imaginative and unconventional approaches. This journey allowed me to blend cultural heritage with artistic expression in a meaningful way. The inspiration for the first two designs came from exploring a hot and cold palette, featuring predominantly red and blue color schemes to evoke contrasting temperatures. The rainbow version was based on the idea of guiding the viewer’s eye along the spectrum of colors, creating a dynamic and engaging flow. The next three versions, with their unconventional color choices, stemmed from experimenting with color combinations and drew extra inspiration from pop art. The dark blue design was heavily influenced by Cartoon Network’s promotional videos, which often used minimalistic three-color schemes. Finally, the blueprint version represents the essence of a recipe itself—a detailed "blueprint" for creating a specific dish. Sorry for the lag of this page, but the images of the various types of posters are about the size of 3 by 2 A4 pages.
